Riga was very great, because we finally came together with the whole group again. All 12 of us stayed with our hosts Nauris and his flat mates and broke their personal hosting record. The stories we could tell each other after being separated for 4 days were endless.
It is a really amazing feeling, if I remember how our journey started 3 weeks ago. I can still see us standing on the road for the first time in Berlin, hitchhiking towards the unknown future. And now we are suddenly sitting in the living room of our host Helen, eating pancakes and enjoying the long Estonian days. So many unexpected things have happened. All of them were positive.
Hitchhiking is a great way to get a little insight in the lives of people. We have met so many drivers, hosts and other travelers with completely different perspectives and views. My experience is that conversations with drivers in the Baltics often become quite political, I guess this has to do with the short distance to Russia.
Next to all the hitchhiking, couchsurfing and “new-people-meeting”, we also took two days to camp in an Estonian nature resort:

During the day, there where some other visitors, but at night it was only us, the sea and the campfire. It was relaxing to be away from cities for a while. At the second day we had a delicious barbecue with a few side drinks before and after. ;-) We also created our own drinking game called “Three people die”. It is a combination of Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, Flunkyball, Handball and Quiditch. I will post the rules when I have time in an extra blogpost.
Currently we are busy to check all the points on our bucket list. Some points are easy, others are more tricky than expected. The point we take care of most is certainly “Drink a beer with a local” ;-)
We are definitely enjoying ourselves. Or as Shane (our Aussie motivation speaker) would say: “Could be worst.”
I think that’s all I have to say for now. I am looking forward to the upcoming time in Scandinavia. Check out the pictures.
